Yugo GVX and Yugo WRC 1.3 litre class README FILE:

Yugo by: Zastava Motors, modeled by E-Blackadder

=================================================

This was originally going to be an update of my Yugo GV model, which believe it or not gets more fan mail than all my other cars put together. (I guess it's true that Eastern Bloc cars have a huge fan base... ) It was started as an answer to an e-mail from Zeljko in Yugoslavia who kindly pointed out the numerous errors I had made in the original Yugo, along with details on how to correct them. Now I had been planning for a long time to update the GV, as it was my first model and it was, put simply, awful. Gaps in the mesh, lousy textures, horrid normals, mis-oriented faces, bad tuning... there's more wrong with the thing than right.

So anyways, in addition to the corrections, Zeljko mentioned that a retextured WRC version would be neat to have. Now I didn't even know that they raced these little cars, but some research introduced me to the 1.3 litre class racers and I was hooked. Having been suffering from a bad case of modeler's block, I decided to give it a go. As it turned out, the project was a lot more enjoyable and fun than I had anticipated, and in fact it ended up taking me longer to fix the car than it had to create the original. So much had to be redone that I decided, rather than be an update to the original, I'd release it as an entirely new car. Thus, the GVX.

What's new:

At long last, the Yugo has A DASH!!! Granted it's a reworked version of the stock Audi TT dashboard with a scratch-built steering wheel, but what the hell... it's enough like a Yugo's dash that I don't think anyone will complain. There also isn't a gear indicator for reasons too complicated to go into, so you'll have to wing it.

Model has been 95% redone. Mesh gaps and reoriented faces fixed, polys reduced, 3D wiper blades added front and back, proportions and scale corrected, wheels fixed with traditional rims, hood corrected, back now molded 3D, and normals repaired/redone.

Textures completely redone from scratch. much better, more details, better head/tail lights, etc. Now featuring 4 colors (red, yellow, blue, and white) with two sets of licence plates each... your choice of American Vanity or traditional 80's Yugoslavian plates, for a total of 8 possiblities to choose from.

New sounds, including selection, engines, and even a transmission clunk.

New vehicle showcases.

All new tuning, including physically realistic braking.

Lighting fixes, now mostly correct and even featuring licence-plate lights.

Lots of other little bits and bobs tweaked and fixed... ;)

For the WRC version, there are two featured paint schemes, neither based upon reality, and some minor differences in suspension, engine, acelleration, model, and tuning. WRC features a slightly different dash and sounds. There is also a different showcase with the WRC.

Legal crap:

You cannot use, steal, tweak, change, claim as your own, or otherwise mess with this file or the contents therin without my permission. Feel free to ask, it's simpler and nicer that way. These cars both work fine on my computer and therefore should work on yours. Don't blame me if they steal your girlfriend, BBQs your computer, and/or drink all your beer.

Now originally, I used to have a fit about my stuff being posted on websites that hosted converts and other copyright violating materials, and or posted files without permission. Painful experience has taught me that no matter what I say this will happen irregardless, so rather than get mad or rant-n-rave at the sites, I'll just appeal to you, the car downloader. Support artists and carmakers who do original work by either boycotting sites that engage in these practices, or just not downloading converts... please.

Thanks go out to Oleg (of course), the guys who beta tested these cars for me, everyone at the Box, all the people who liked the original pos even though it was pretty bad, and Zeljko who got me started on this in the first place. Hopefully, this one is much better. Enjoy.
